My revised Top 10 Blue Sentai Warriors

Yep, Blogger Come Back!

Ahem, excuse my Gaku/Gao Yellow impression a bit, but I'm back with another Top 10. Previously, I got off with Pink, but now I'm gonna tackle my favorite color: Blue. Here we are, you may once again be pissed at my choices.

10. Yukito Sanjou (Abare Blue)

First off, we get to Sentai's most obvious 'Jerk With A Heart Of Gold'. Yukito got a really nasty mouth, but his heart just doesn't match. Even if he mellowed down, it still stuck until the end (he's charging Ryouga with a lot of money for dragging him to the whole Abaranger mess... yeah, you ain't tricking us with that jerkassery, Yukito, we know you're grateful!). His past is pretty fine, having a dad that overshadows him a little bit big. Also another thing I like about him is that he is not afraid to use his chiropractor skills into some dangerous things like breaking bones... a deadly doctor at that! Though I think that being a fellow medical guy, he'd make a good foil to Mikoto, but well that arc are more reserved for Ryouga. But still, for what he is, I do like Yukito a lot to make him on the 10th spot.

9. Shun Namiki (Mega Blue)

And ninth place, we got the Teen genius Shun. While his development mostly come at the beginning, from that sacrificing his dreams for friends, I like it that he sometimes act like a jerk, but still at times find time to have fun rather than being super uptight like Koichirou. While he mostly ignores Miku, when push comes to shove, he shows that he does care, which speaks a lot for him. I think his greatest moment is during the Nejiranger arc, executing that one plan that later T.J in Power Rangers In Space would repeat, about painting the other Megarangers into blue. Well, if you've got the brain, better use it. And that's probably why he's on the 9th spot.
 

8. Shouji (Tenma Ranger)

Yes, Dairanger is not yet finished in my watch list, but on 40 episodes, I think I can safely say that Shouji got his place at the 8th. He's a delinquent, looks like it and overall a fun boisterous guy to go with. Kinda like how he tricked Ryou into waking up like the Crying Wolf, although that bit him in the ass later. I will also admit that I like his overarching arc with the Three Gorma Stooges, especially one where it's revealed that the reason he bothered so much was because it reminded him of his young self, especially when the other rangers thinks he's just wasting his time, it does show dedication underneath that rough dude with attitude outlook. As of power, yeah, Gravity/Weight control is nice. I realize that Shouji rarely got into people's Top 10 blue lists, and I'm a sucker for underdogs so... yeah, Shouji really is one underrated guy who deserves his place at 8th.

7. Akira (Blue Mask)

Aah, Akira, one of the Blue warriors that got in my childhood. Always full of energy, wacky, but can be serious at times. It's always good to fight for his mother and his cockiness at times shines when he adds up in teasing. He's got quite the big spotlight after Takeru in Maskman, but when he does, sometimes it gets REALLY dramatic like the Unas saga, when he's possessed and proceeds to kick the rest of the Maskman's asses. 'Twas a scary thought, but this does has a depth in him, which was... unfortunately not so touched after it's revealed. So a combo of funny, short smartass and some dangerous stuffs gives Akira a spot in the 7th place.

6. Nanami Nono (Hurricane Blue)

For the most part, I thought she was overhyped. But once I finished Hurricaneger, I can safely and confidently say... Nanami LIVED UP to that hype of hers. Her 'idiocy' comes up in some innocence and cheeriness that it does balance out from Yousuke's hyper determinator idiocy and Kouta's straight man. The voice delivery really gets into the cheerful part which adds up to her fun, which includes some really funny awesome moments like that one time, after constantly mistaking combat commentaries into food commentaries (complete with 'down' and 'up' montage), into punching a cockpit window after waving 'Hi!'... just to draw scribbles on the face. Of course, behind that are also two things: an unbridled anger when she's pushed way too hard as Furabijou found out (you don't mess with a girl who always wanted a fellow female friend, b****!), and an equally tender heart which does make her cry when things really go to south, like in the finale when she started losing nearly every of her friends. Buut back to cheeriness, I'd say that Nanami completely lived up to my expectation so I give her... #6.

5. Youhei Hama (Blue Turbo)

So yeah you may be asking what the heck is an old school guy being here. Was it because he's my blue rep in my fanfic? Well, in the first glance, you can say that. However, the one thing I'd say that Youhei could've been one of my favorite Turborangers is that for a comic relief guy, he seems to have a lot of pasts sprayed here and there, like when he had his childhood friend move because of a Bouma residing in her house, or his favorite teacher leaving him. Even if he's the comic relief, getting into trouble here and there, I think if I wanna say who's the most tragic of all Turborangers, it would've been Youhei. Not only past losses, he also suffers present losses, like that one time he fell in love with a Bouma girl... and said girl got killed by Jarmin. It's just a pity that it's not him who offed Jarmin. But aside of that, he provided a lot of humors in Turboranger and keeps a cheery face despite his misfortune. That and I do also have nostalgia factors in Turboranger, therefore Youhei gets #5.

4. Joe Gibken (Gokai Blue)

Newest guy with real cool stuff. Joe really got a nice style in swords, and hey, I like swords better than guns. He usually fills in the 'cool guy' role very nicely with his overall cool, aloof attitude which is still different with Marvelous' brand of cool. And I bet he's pretty packed with all those push-ups and sit-ups in his spare time. His backstory did great to me, he symbolizes that there are just some limits good men in a bad company can do, as long as one has their goodness and not tossing them away, they always have a chance for redemption. Which then led to the backstory with Cid. It was quite the sad one that he ends up realizing he couldn't totally save him, but well he found an alternative and closure for it, and he went through it just fine. So for his overall badassery, swordplay despite the pretty boy look, I'd say Joe deserves to be at #4.

3. Saburou Aoyama (Goggle Blue)

And nostalgia hit in again. While he wasn't as much as sticking out like Miki and Kuroda, I'd say Aoyama is a good mix of humor and occasional badassery. He probably has one of the unorthodox weapons (a normal, non-bladed ring), but boy does he know how to use it. His growth as a fighter is a good thing to watch too, the first time he got into a solo fight, he was terribly owned, but around 20 episodes later, he is capable on owning the monster single-handedly. Admittedly, one of the favorite episodes involving him would've been the jetpack episode which also highlights his second desire aside of a hockey player, an inventor. His partnership with Kijima is pretty badass and fun to watch, in both efficiency, humor (mostly provided by Kijima, but he's still responsible) and the drama. And this being the first Sentai I watched EVER, Aoyama probably taught me how to like the color blue. So, without further ado, I'd say he's on the #3 spot... no matter what you say!

2. Ryuunosuke Ikenami (Shinken Blue)

TONOOOO!!! Yeah, who could forget that one hilarious yell. I'd say Ryuunosuke is also quite underrated. Sure, he starts out hyperactive annoying, but take a few episodes and you'll see that he lived up his placement as Takeru's second-in-command and he's just as capable as the rest of the Sentai, with some of his annoyingness toned down to make an admirable character. What was once an annoying type of funny becomes a genuine type of funny, and when he hams up the scene, he hams up nicely. His existence as a hammy hyperactive dude makes a good contrast to the to-the-point, serious Takeru. And when drama kicks in, he showed genuine anguish and even the usually loud and annoying scream can become something really heartwrenching as proven in some of the final episodes, which shows his conflicting loyalty in great detail. He can be dismissed as an annoying dude, but if you can get past that, Ryuunosuke is a dude that is really awesome and deserving #2.

1. Hoji Tomasu (Deka Blue)

And just like the rest of many of you guys, my #1 spot is for Hoji. I mean, what else can I say? He hits on nearly everything well. Badass, Development, Drama, Humor... you name it. Badass, as in his sheer determination and hard work that in a short time, he CAN master boxing and beat the crap out of an underground fighter on drugs while unmorphed. Humor due to his broken Engrish at times which can make things also look awesome, or his constant bickering with Ban, although that proves to be a point for his development later. Development due to his change from a jackass high and mighty perfectionist officer humbled with some failures and despite the bickering, eventually accepting Ban as his 'partner'. Drama for... well, the buttload of dramatic episodes that he carried on, from his friend turned evil, choosing law over love by killing his lover's criminal brother.... The one thing I can say 'pity' is that his partnership with Jasmine was only touched in the very end, I kinda ship those two. But... yeah, I think it's really safe to say that the #1 spot is unchanged from the previous one, it's still Hoji. Super Cool. Perfect.

Welp, thus concludes my list so I hope you had a good time reading! Maybe Red or Yellow are next...

My Top 6 Sentai Green Warriors

Here be my Top 6 Green Warriors of Sentai...

6. Dai/Green Flash (Choushinsei Flashman)

Again, this is due to the lack of me watching Flashman, but I would say that Dai could've been one of my top. He's a pretty bad ass guy, especially once you realize what kind of training he's been through. He looks like an average guy, but can knock down walls with ease like a raging bull. Deep down, he's not really some silent guy or some bad mofo, he's actually a pretty softie. That's quite the plus on him and since I had a hard time in deciding faves in Green Warriors, I'd say Dai really deserves the position #6.

5. Burai/Dragon Ranger (Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger)

All right, all right, stop aiming your guns to me! Okay, I like a lot more characters than Burai, but I won't hide that the fact that he's COOL. First off, his intense storyline, it makes you pity him, it makes his death even more heartwrenching. For all the bad and hatred he's trying to make himself out at first, he gets better, becomes a good big bro for Geki. He's a pretty tragic character too, when he thought he could get all honky-dory with his brother again, news arrived that he just had limited time. Combined with how much of a bad ass he is when he fights, and the Dragonzord... err, Dragon Caesar that he controls, Burai secured the #5 place. And don't ask me on who I like better: Burai or Tommy. I don't want to anger both sides.

4. Chiaki Tani/Shinken Green (Samurai Sentai Shinkenger)

Yeah, if you notice, every single Shinkenger starting lineup characters get picked into the list. And as far as Chiaki go, he's a pretty fun guy, in a 'jerk' way. He's a rather carefree, obnoxious boy, always wanting to surpass Takeru, but later on, we see him develop and respect Takeru on his own way. He also likes coming up with unique ways to beat the opponent, like how he makes use of the monster that switches souls to inanimate objects. Above all, I also like his interaction with Kotoha, he shows his kinder side a lot to him, though that's gonna expand to the rest of the team, which is good. Overall, Chiaki might not be my favorite Shinkenger character, but he's still a great Green Sentai warrior, and that gives him the #4 position.

3. Daigo/Shishi Ranger (Gosei Sentai Dairanger)

Yes, it's still 'In Progress' as well, but I foresee that I might like Daigo a lot (second to Lin, that is). Just a few episodes and I'm already quite awed on what he's done so far: smashing his rod on the enemy groin a lot, chewing out the team for not taking their duties seriously (REALLY EPIC AND WELL DESERVED) and his illusionary skills, which would spice up a lot of fun in battle. I've also heard about a possible love story sub plot for him, which I haven't seen, but so far, Daigo was a real serious dude, he could even pass up as a red ranger (but he didn't). Overall, I'd say he deserves the position #3 for now... but he may want to be careful if in the future either his position drops... or rises.

2. Sen'ichi Enari/Deka Green (Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger)

Nice guy personified. Sen-chan is one of the nicest guy on the planet if you do not seriously piss him off, whereas he would become a raging person hell bent on making the evildoer pay. Beware the nice ones, huh. But I like that in him. Other than that, I would say that his handstand position is one of his most unique things, I mean, who can think straight when they're handstanding? Yep, just Sen. It also provides humor for those who doesn't know what it means (Ask Houka from Magiranger). Lastly, I do find his relationship with Umeko adorable, and with all things considered, it's safe to say that Sen-chan is my #2 favorite Green Sentai warrior...

1. Mele (Juken Sentai Gekiranger)

All right, all right! Like Rio, she really doesn't officially become 'GekiGreen' (as Jan coined). Still, Mele reeks of awesome, she pretty much is my favorite 'token female villainess', though only because she's deeper than the normal ones and redeemed herself thanks to her love with Rio. Speaking of love, I find it great that she is able to switch voices quickly depending on the situation, when she's dealing with her monsters or the Gekirangers, she sounded like a cold bitch, but if the situation is about Rio, she's all lovey-dopey like a lovestruck girl. It does help that she inherits most of the villainesses' trait of dressing sexily, but proves to be good eventually. As well as being unique as the first female 'Green', Mele pretty much takes the cake of being my #1 favorite Green Sentai warrior. (And hey, she and Rio did pose with an explosion during Go-onger vs Gekiranger while joining the "We're Super Sentai!" yell!)

And thus, my 'Favorite Green warriors' list ended. White might have to wait a little, longer, I apologize, but I hope you enjoy the reading. Now I'll see you later.

My Top 6 Sentai Red Warriors

Here's my top 6 Sentai Red Warriors...

6. Banban Akaza/Deka Red (Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger)

Usually I like it better if the Red ranger is not very hyper, but I'd say that Ban is this kind of character done in a good way. He's hyper, but not in a really irritating way (when you compare with Gekiranger's Jan Kandou. OK, he's supposed to be a jungle boy, and while he's a pretty okay character, I find his childish hyperactivity a little annoying). He really lives up the 'Fireball' part for the team, being the one more likely to break the norms to ensure that justice prevails. While he has his share of bad luck and desire to be number 1, once he learnt the meaning of teamwork (after the boot camp), he becomes even more admirable... while not losing his hyperactivity or exaggerating it. So, yeah, Ban gets to be my #6 for those reasons.

5. Geki/Tyranno Ranger (Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger)

Yes, I still get vibes of seeing Jason of MMPR when I see Geki, even though they're different person. Still, overall, he's a great character on his own, even when Burai practically overshadows him in popularity. Geki is what happens if you give some conflict to your 'standard leader' type, and it works out well. He does make mistakes sometimes, but he'll eventually admit his mistake. His rivalry with Burai was fierce at first, but his feelings as a loving little brother eventually prevails, bringing forth one of the more heartwarming moments of the series, and he's the one who's most crushed when Burai died, but Geki still managed to push on and eventually led the team to victory, this speaks a lot for his character. His nostalgic factor to me may be less than Akama's (because that nostalgia came from his suit, which was used by Jason in MMPR), but still, with his other characteristic and story, Geki gets to be #5.

4. Riki Honoo/Red Turbo (Kousoku Sentai Turboranger)

Ah yeah, this is our first entry of actually hotblooded and rash red ranger (but not in a complete idiot manner, though). Overall, Riki's only problem is his grades in school, in actual battles, he can be pretty insightful in battles at times, thus he's smarter than how everyone looked at him. He's not really the likely leader (you'd thought it's the smart guy Daichi or 'Miss Perfect' Haruna who gets to be the leader), but deep down, he does show leadership and concern well. Most of all, he surprises us with his killing of Lagorn (even though just temporary)... ALONE. It does show that he's one of the more powerful red rangers. Hot blooded, rash, full of energy, yet still leads his team well; Riki is on the #4 place.

3. Takeru/Red Mask (Hikari Sentai Maskman)

Takeru might be, to some people, the trend-setter in Sentai where the Red warrior gets a lot of exclusive focus. But, overall, I think he's a pretty fun character. He's rash, but leads the team well enough. What makes him awesome is that he combines the 'serious' archetype with humors, thus you're more likely to see him getting the butt-end of jokes and teasings despite being the leader, as the time-travel episode shows (man, I still laughed at that). Still, the humors caused by him are less 'too pushed on' and more quite natural, so it all works out in the end. It's true that his plot with Mio/Iyal means that he's getting a lot of exclusive plots, but he plays his parts well, and his other 'side dishes' of humors makes Maskman still a great show to watch, thus Takeru gets the #3 spot.

2. Ryuu Tendou/Red Hawk (Choujin Sentai Jetman)

Oh God. Ryuu pretty much is one of the more conflicted Red warriors ever, along with one of the best one there is. At first, he's sometimes too stuck-up on the laws, which might get on some people's nerves (Even sometimes, I feel like siding with Gai to punch his face for his treatment to Kaori), but trust me, he REALLY gets better. His leadership do show off prominently when he tricked the team of defecting to the Vyram. His drama and suffering through his anguish of losing Rie gives a good shape of his character (and a lot more reasons for us to desire Radiguet's head on a platter), and although he has several times of trying to give up, Ryuu ultimately would never back down to protect those he loves. His conflicts and leadership gave him the #2 spot.

1. Takeru Shiba/Shinken Red (Samurai Sentai Shinkenger)

All right, this is the second Takeru to be put on the list. And yes, as much of the fanboys glamored, Takeru really is a great character. He's a silent, serious character, and sometimes funny situation gets in the way (which makes things even funnier)... and he takes it just as serious as he'd take on the demonic invaders. And I'm not kidding when I say he's just as bad ass as he gets. The arc about his inner struggles being the kagemusha of Kaoru was also a very well done arc that does great justice to Takeru's characters: He's an aloof jerk, but beneath it all, he's a compassionate, caring man... who needs a hug. I'll not talk about the pairings of him, since I talked about it before (and you know which one is my favorite Takeru shipping), but overall, Takeru plays part in re-invigorating my passion for Sentai. Combined with his badass fighting style, as well as personality I'm diggin', he pretty much becomes my #1 Sentai Red Warrior.

My Top 6 Sentai Black Warriors

Here be my Top 6 Sentai Black Warriors...

6. Ryuu Hoshikawa/Dyna Black (Kagaku Sentai Dynaman)

All right, this is mostly on the earlier thoughts, but even when we take Dynaman's theme of science, Ryuu's design screams of unique. A ninja mixed with scientist, and still a badass fighter. That's a combo you'll less likely to see, and he's still great because of it. His personality is quite comical for a ninja, but I've seen other comical ninjas that could get annoying (but I still like it), so I can still excuse Ryuu's comical side and sometimes loud voice. Well, it helps that he's played by Junichi Haruta... At any rate, even if Dynaman is currently 'In Progress', I'd say Ryuu already secured the #6 slot.

5. Black Lion Rio (Juken Sentai Gekiranger)

Right, he's never officially called a Black warrior, but he DOES turn good in the end (or so I heard. Yes, I've been spoiled a lot, but I still watch the series anyway!), thus marking his place. If I would have the list of 'sympathetic villain', I'd say Rio takes cake. While he's evil, he has soft spots here and there and this proves vital in redeeming him, changing him from villain and such, without losing his badassery points. I'll not say anything about his relationship with Mele here, except I'd say it's quite a well-done dynamic between the two. Overall, Rio is the example of 'villain, badass, sympathetic in a way', thus he earns the #5 spot. And hey, Jan once tried calling him 'GekiBlack'. So... yeah.

4. Kanpei Kuroda/Goggle Black (Dai Sentai Goggle V)

And we go back to our classic faves. I'd say that while he's not going anywhere near Saburou or Miki in terms of favorite Goggle V character, Kanpei is pretty awesome on his own. Yes, being played by Junichi Haruta helps, but his vast array of techniques is quite the sight to behold. And he's not even a ninja, but a university president of chess club and a janitor part-time (Almighty Janitor, anyone?). They're right when they say 'If Goggle V looked silly, Kanpei is the one who keeps the line between complete silly and awesome' (though I don't think Goggle V is silly AT ALL). A great second-in-command as well, Kanpei earns the #4 spot (and yeah, nostalgia plays a factor here).

3. Doggie Kruger/Deka Master (Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger)

Doggie is probably one of my favorite 'commander' type character. It's just a guy in a big blue bipedal wolf suit, but DANG he's that badass. Not stealing the spotlight despite his mass power also adds up points that he's also wise, but when he's gotten into battle, asses shall be bitten. Tetsu Inada voiced a lot of furry characters, and I'd say Doggie stands amongst the most badasses of them. So, yes, this dog earns #3 spot, and watch out, if he wants to bite, he bites... HARD.

2. Jiraiya/Ninja Black (Ninja Sentai Kakuranger)

I'd say that Jiraiya is an awesome character kinda overshadowed in terms of spotlight. Kakuranger is mostly more about Tsuruhime, with Sasuke thrown in for good measure. Not that I'm complaining, but Jiraiya tends to fall flat in spotlight. Though for what little spotlight he has, he's REALLY awesome at those. His arc with Gali is considered one of the most tense arcs: Master/foster father and student square off against each other in a deadly battle, and Jiraiya doesn't even transform. It's good ol' plain beatdown showcasing the awesome martial arts actions of the Kosugi family. And those are combined with high tension drama. Aside of that, Jiraiya speaks perfect English at times, which is a good addition to his character, being an American ninja, and even with that, he's not like many overconfident Americans, he's actually pretty humble. Those are his qualities that makes him #2 of the list.

1. Gai Yuuki/Black Condor (Choujin Sentai Jetman)

And now, here's one of my favorite characters in Super Sentai history. Gai is the epitome of character development (even more so than Hoji!), starting out an obnoxious jerk and the least likely candidate to be a Super Sentai warrior, but deep down, he hid a heart of gold which he hid well for about half the season, and eventually it prevailed over his jerkass side, turning him to a bad ass second-in-command and actually treats Ryuu as a real friend, not some 'annoying goody two shoes guy'. Yeah, it's a great bummer that he has to die, but hey, look at the bright side... He died an accomplished man, with no regrets and all. Of course I know many would wish him to be alive, but with his death scene so ambiguous (which I'll talk about later), you may wonder if he's just hiding (if you count the manga non-canon anyway!). Yes, he fights dirty with groin squeezes at times, but that adds variety in Sentai fights and I always find it fun. His rivalry with Grey is also something impressive to watch. At any rate, so many great qualities, Gai pretty much sweeps the #1 spot, even if he has to die for it.

My Top 6 Sentai Blue Warriors

Well, I did say about planning out the Top Ladies of Sentai (and later on would spread into Top Gentlemen of Sentai). However, if I post that, it would make this kind of post pointless. So let's just start with the breakdown of list based on color. First off, Blue.

Ah, Blue. My favorite color. Ever since I was a child, I basically love this color. It's something I can't express its words. But I'd say Sentai plays a big part in me liking blue. So, I'm going to count down my top 6 Blue Sentai Warriors. I'd usually go for 5 for this, but why six? Well, let's just say I've been watching Nostalgia Critic too much and am obliged to go one step beyond, just like him. So! Here's the countdown of my top 6 Blue Sentai warriors.

6. Akira/Blue Mask (Hikari Sentai Maskman)

Akira is the youngest of the Maskmen, which was never a problem for me. He balances out between a humorous mood-maker of the team, producing some of the funny moments of Maskman, as well as seriousness. I mean, when he turned into Unas, I was... SCARED like hell. The concept of your mood-maker suddenly betraying you and turning into your worst nightmare sounds really cold and he was really kicking the Maskmen's asses, though thank goodness he's back in the end. Overall, the combination factors of nostalgia, and how his actor could pull off a lot of great stunts as him won me over.

5. Ken Hoshikawa/Five Blue (Chikyuu Sentai Fiveman)

Well, from Akira, there's Ken, the second oldest between the Fivemen. I'd say that while he does have impulsive acts that would endanger the team, what makes him endearing that he'd make up for it, at cost of his life, if he realizes that it's wrong. Of course, who else could forget that he probably is the only one between the Fivemen (not sure between the franchise) who could destroy a monster of the week untransformed and bare-handed. That put him quite high in my list, which is #5.

4. Ryuunosuke Ikenami/Shinken Blue (Samurai Sentai Shinkenger)

Ah, Ryuunosuke. You hyperactive, overreacting kabuki samurai. Call me cruel, but I do kinda giggle on seeing some events where his overreacting-ness caused him trouble that is treated as humor. It lightens up the serious moments in Shinkenger (we also have Genta to do that, but this is about Blue). Still, despite all that, you realize that Takeru doesn't appoint second-in-commands at whims and at times, Ryuunosuke does show competence and seriousness that makes him worthy taking that place, which is why he's #4. A hyperactive foil to Takeru that shouldn't be messed with despite how the universe chews him out.

3. Youhei Hama/Blue Turbo (Kousoku Sentai Turboranger)

The 'trouble-making girl-chaser' from Turboranger. While I do agree with the trouble-making part, I think that Youhei just makes trouble once in awhile with the teachers. With his friends, he's one of the best you can get. Not to mention, his natural good look and how he usually treats women with courtesy makes him a natural chick-magnet. Of course, the universe seems quite bent to screw him over like Ryuunosuke, like that time when he got his face swapped and lost most of his admirers because a cowardly boy used his face, though he still puts up a strong front. Overall, despite most of his troubles, it's safe to say that Youhei is my favorite Turboranger and #3 on this list. Especially that one episode where he lost his possible love thanks to the Bouma (man, that was a sad episode). Sometimes, I kinda wish he'd be the one personally killing the killer of his possible love rather than Daichi, but hey, what can I say...

2. Saburou Aoyama/Goggle Blue (Dai Sentai Goggle V)

Well, this goes way back. I would say that Saburou was my first childhood fave. He was the reason why Blue is my favorite color to this day. Well, what can I say? He'd stick his head to protect those dear to him, and while that's pretty standard in the 80's, I'd say that the way he did it was very well done. Of course, anyone who can make a frigging hula hoop look like a bad ass weapon is always good. His evolution of strength is also quite a sight to behold, you can compare that at one point he horribly lost one on one against a monster, and then several episodes later, he could hold on his own one on one against more advanced monster (and in fact was owning). As I would expect from my old favorite. But for now, he's number #2, since as time passed, I found another favorite, but I will give Saburou this place as a remembrance that he was once one of my childhood heroes.

1. Hoji Tomasu/Deka Blue (Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger)

Yes, this is the guy who surpassed my childhood fave. Hoji provides action, drama and silly English speaking, coated with awesome. I'm just quite the sucker of a character who is calm, cool and develops from a jerk into someone really respectable, which sums quite about what Hoji is. While it's still a character of him to be high-and-mighty, you'll see it pretty much less as you watch Dekaranger more, revealing a kinder man man beneath it all. I also like most of the dramas that came from his focus episodes, the episode where he had to kill his possible lover's little brother was a powerful one. And yeah, I'm straight and I have to admit that he and Ban might get a bit... too close. But his other traits pretty much cover it. Thus, with quite a lot of development and his usually cool demeanor, it makes Hoji take the #1 spot of my Top 6 Blue Sentai warriors.

So there you have it, my top 6 Blue warriors of Super Sentai. Again, this is just a string of opinions, so don't rag on me if it clashed with yours. And forgive me if my writeups just sound too corny.

(P.P.S: If you're asking who my current fave female blue ranger is, it's currently Ako Hayasaka/Blue Swallow. Opinion may change once I finished watching Liveman. Unfortunately for Ako, she's just... not high enough on my overall blue list.)
